Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing well 😊
If you are new to this space, welcome! Saturday Loves is a series here on The Lovely Road where I will share other writers' Substack newsletters that I recently read and enjoyed and give them a creative "shout-out" as well as sharing what I have been interested in on a personal level outside of Substack.
In my offline world...
What I've been doing:
I've been trying a few new recipes. Sometimes it has been a bit too hot to bake but this was one recipe I had to try. Four words: Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins. My girls really enjoyed these, and I absolutely plan on making them again.
What I've been reading:
I just adore Audrey Hepburn and spent some time this summer watching films of hers that I hadn't seen before as well as reading this book from my local library. Audrey Hepburn in Paris is gorgeous, the photos of her too marvelous for words. Absolutely stunning photographs of Audrey in Paris as well as behind the scenes photos and backstories of her movies that she filmed there. The book also talks about her lovely relationship with the designer Givenchy who styled Audrey for most of her films in her career.
I adored this book, and I am not the only one: I had to wait over two months to read this book as the queue for it at my local library was quite long. Loved, loved, loved it! Also, for those who are interested in the films I watched this summer, they were Love in the Afternoon and Charade. Gorgeous Paris escapism!
What I have been listening to/watching:
I have been watching the latest season of Grantchester which just ended here stateside this past Sunday. Not sure when it will air in the UK but friends, it was so good! No spoilers, don't worry, but if you are a fan of this show, this season was brilliant. You will not be disappointed!

Audrey Hepburn has been my favorite actress for eons. Charade is one of my favorites, but I've yet to see Love in the Afternoon. The Children's Hour, also with another favorite actress, Shirley MacLaine, is a film that showcases Hepburn's range as an actress. She's not just a pretty face, as some people seem to think. It rankled me deeply to read an article comparing her to Katherine Hepburn. Absolutely no comparison. The more I learn about Audrey's childhood, her bravery and compassion, her struggles and joys, it astounds me.
Thanks so much for including me 🙏
