I think nearly every client I’ve worked with who says “oh I’m not creative” realises eventually they’ve been denying their creativity because they think they have to be “artistic” to be creative, when in fact that’s just one definition. Loved this piece, thank you x x

Mackenzie this is so lovely and so true. Choosing careers at a young age rarely works out. But our voices, values and experience continue to grow and are waiting to be shared - as you said. I just love the idea that we all have a story to share!

I really enjoyed this Mackenzie. I too, did a job that didn't fulfil me creatively, or otherwise, straight out of uni, and I count myself lucky to have found a passion that later became a job. I never really knew what I wanted to do when I 'grew up', but I'm glad it's turned out the way it did. I do strongly believe, though, that we don't have to do creative jobs to be 'happy'. As you say - we still have our free time to explore all sorts of creative avenues and the things that we feel drawn to, without any external expectations!

Oh absolutely! I agree with you that you don’t have to do creative jobs to be happy. “Happy” means so many things for so many different people. I love that everyone has creative gifts and that we can be the recipients of those gifts when people chose to share them 🥰

Ahh, this post resonates so loudly... not for me, (I am a totally uneducated, flunked college, self taught and still learning busy old mum with a job, a passion for my hill and a lazy hubby) more because my daughter has been through that ‘you are over qualified’ response so often recently too, her stock reply always, was ‘but how can I be when I’ve never tried to do the job you’re offering?’ So true, but obviously this gets her nowhere at all and eventually she has decided to retrain, go back to studying which she said she’d never do because all she wants is to write and to be creative... I will send her this post!

All that to say, thank you for sharing and thank you @substack for sending me @Mackenzie in my weekly stack.✨
