Saving for later and always inspired by Cait’s books and her master storytelling! I must read Beth’s book - I saw Christmas chocolate in the super market today and my heart sank - it’s like the best and worst of times with kids - too much, too stressy, unnecessarily so!
She has a podcast which goes wonderfully with the book. Her voice is soothing and it feels like you are sitting next to her at the kitchen table with a cup of steaming hot cocoa. 😊
I love this post Mackenzie! So many fab recommendations :). One of my favourite simple living books is Enough by Jessica Rose Williams - which is part memoir/part guide and beautifully written :)
The Perfectionist’s Guide to Losing Control by Katherine Morgan Schafler is one that came out earlier this year, but I’m getting ready to read it again. Definitely a good one to come back to each year as a good reminder that we don’t have to be everything to be worthy and live a fulfilling life. I think most of us need that reminder from time to time.
You've included such good books here, Mackenzie!! I didn't know Beth had a Christmas-themed book! I absolutely have to read that this holiday season. I always return to The Little Book of Hygge, it brings me such joy to read each year.
I feel like Beth’s book is a must-read for those of us looking to slow down the pace of the holiday season and not get swept up in the overwhelm of it all🎄
I kept liking your posts and saving your book recommendations until I finally realized I needed to go ahead and subscribe. I'm trying to keep my Substack subscription count fairly low to avoid feelings of overwhelm, so it takes a lot for me to add another newsletter. But, every single post of yours is just so great?!
I'm a little late to the party, but wanted to thank you for sharing TYOL + what it's meant to you, friend. I'm not sure everyone would classify it as such, but I would add WINTERING to this mix... mostly because I find the audiobook so calming to listen to. ❤️
Recently joined a local book club and was looking for nice books to bring to the table. I've made so many note from this article. Thank you Mackenzie for sharing!! Can't wait to dig in to those books.

Oh, you will absolutely love Beth’s book, Claire! It is a true breath of fresh air in what becomes a hectic time of year.
Yes I agree, Cait is indeed a master storyteller! 💗

You are all too sweet, thank you friends! ❤️

Oh, I agree! Jessica’s book was fantastic, I enjoyed it very much 💗
I actually met Brooke and Ben in Asheville,North Carolina years ago on their book tour. I am currently reading her newest book Care.
How nice that you were able to meet them! 💚
I haven’t read Care yet but it is on my list!
The Yeat of less was €1.95 for the e-book at bol.com so I bought it.
How lovely! I hope you enjoy it 🌿
Year*
Thanks for this, Mackenzie! I’m going to save it and add these books to my TBR pile 😊
Yay! Happy reading to you! 🥰
