Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing well 😊
If you are new to this space, welcome! Saturday Loves is a series here on The Lovely Road where I will share other writers' Substack newsletters that I recently read and enjoyed and give them a creative "shout-out" as well as sharing what I have been interested in on a personal level outside of Substack.
In my offline world...
What I will be watching:
This weekend, I have earmarked some time to watch Mr Bates vs The Post Office. Has anyone watched it yet? I am looking forward to watching it with my trusty cup of tea ☕
What I've been reading:
I've recently finished two books, the first of which is The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can't Stand Positive Thinking by Oliver Burkeman. This is the same author who wrote Four Thousand Weeks, which is an absolutely brilliant book which I've banged on about here quite a bit. The Antidote is good and talks about why the pursuit of happiness is actually making people unhappy.
I also read The Nordic Theory of Everything: In Search of a Better Life by Anu Partanen. I found it interesting to say the least, and I get what the author was trying to convey, but... something was missing from the conversation, and I can't quite put my finger on it. It was very informative though and it really did illuminate some of the USA's problems, especially in terms of healthcare and affordable housing, tuition, etc...
has a fabulous podcast interview with the author of this book, which I definitely recommend listening to!What I've been writing:
My most recent posts in case you missed them:
My inspiration for this post came from the book Mind Shift by Erwin Raphael McManus.
Now without further ado, onto the Substack loves ❤

Thank you for the shout-out Mackenzie! I appreciate that you read and enjoyed my post. The Mind Shift book sounds intriguing- especially because I’m so curious about intentional living. 🥰
