It is currently raining in Southern California.
Now I know many people may think that it never rains in Southern California and what is this phenomenon that you speak of, but we do occasionally get rainy winters. To be sure, it is not the norm. Every few years, we get winters like this, and the news will show our region dealing with mudslides and our phones will begin pulsating with "storm watch" alerts.
Yes, exceptional amounts of rain here are cause for conversation as well trending topics on Twitter X under #LARain
As I was wiping my eyeglasses for the umpteenth time (rain + spectacles= 😣), I thought about the sun. I thought about people already planning out their gardens and ordering seeds, and diagraming what they will be planting this year. I thought about Easter and Easter baskets, and bunnies and candy and all things pastel. I thought about how each evening, the sun is setting a bit later each night and even just those couple of minutes, have made such a difference in mood. I thought about the fact that the first day of spring is March 19th, exactly one month from today.
Spring is coming friends and I want to chase the sun.
A few spring things I am looking forward to:
Getting some plants for my patio
Spring Break which means no school for a whole week for my children. Currently brainstorming some ideas for that period of time!
Picnics at the park
Baseball season
Family bike rides
Mother's Day
Farmer's Markets and all the fresh fruit and veg
Spring cleaning (it really makes a difference going into a new season)
More time spent outside. More nature walks. More breathing in of oxygen.
Those are just some of the things I am looking forward to for Spring. Tell me, what you are looking forward to when Spring arrives? Let me know in the comments!
We are so lucky- here in Oxfordshire we already have blossoms on the trees and some afternoons of warm, bright sunshine. I’m looking forward to being able to do more than one load of laundry per day because I’ll be able to dry it on the line outside and not on the clothes horse in the spare bedroom (which can take 3 days.)
Oooh, I'm looking forward to feeling the warmth of the sun on my face. Not having to wear a thick coat, scarf, hat, gloves - although I live in the UK so an umbrella is always a wise accoutrement. I'm also looking forward to seeing the blossom, the heady perfume, the buzz of the bees... Being able to be outdoors for longer - those early, early sunrises, and late sunsets...
